Bone density issues are silent and progressive.
Although many of us are vulnerable at an early age, osteopenia and osteoporosis affect disproportionately postmenopausal women predisposing us to bone fractures: at a rate of about 80%. ¿Did you know that one of every two women will break a bone after age 50 because of osteoporosis?
However, contrary to what was believed, osteoporosis is not an inevitable part of aging. There are many things we can do to help ourselves! Here just a few suggestions.
1. Early detection is crucial: speak to your physician and get your bone density checked.
2. Prevention pays off: The earlier the better that you begin to take care of your bones and joints through appropriate movement, diet, supplements and wise lifestyle choices.
3. Prioritize your health in the long run: Make it a priority to implement the changes that can increase the QUALITY of your life as time passes.
4. A therapeutically-oriented yogic approach that is respectfully of the body while challenging prudently the bones, joints and muscles- as we regularly practice in Yoga con ALMA, can be useful. Additionally, I also offer the Yoga for Health Bone Series, which focuses on this theme.
5. Increase your knowledge and find support. There are several reliable websites where you can find empowering information, practical data about treatments, and even social support.
Here two links that I hope will be helpful:
