Practicing to support your physiology pays off!

With great delight I just read the results of a 2022 study that reports the excellent outcomes that VINIYOGA´s individually tailored yoga practices can have for people dealing with chronic insomnia. The study, carried out by the Saint-Pierre University Hospital in Brussels, Belgium, demonstrated that Yoga improves subjective sleep quality and daytime functioning that are related to significant objective measurable changes in sleep structure. This is so exciting!!!!! I know that YOGA WORKS! It is great that Western science is now backing up the knowledge of the rishis and sages.
I have experienced for decades that, appropriately practiced, Yoga helps to produce and balance several our hormones- among them MELATONIN. This hormone, in addition to regulating our circadian rhythms, assists us to slow down the aging processes, is an excellent anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory. It is also an antioxidant and stimulates adaptive immunity, as well as regenerative processes. In addition, MELATONIN dissolves inflammatory complexes in the brain´s glymphatic system, repairs injured tissues and stimulates flow through the glymphatic channels. Melatonin production is one more excellent reason to practice yoga in ways that promote our physiological well-being- instead of settling down for flashy yoga party poses that might end us causing us structural problems.
It is important to highlight two of the possible foundations of the successful outcomes gained by the team led by Dr. Denis Turmel. First: the participants got such good results by taking private individualized VINIYOGA lessons and by practicing regularly for several months. It does make a HUGE difference when the sequences are designed especially for a person´s individual needs. And, as second, the practices were INTEGRAL PRACTICES, that is, sequences that interweave correctly all the yogic tools needed for a specific case. Therefore, the importance of working with a well-trained yoga teacher individually and to consistently nurture your private daily yoga practice.
People who are mainly practicing postures with a little bit of in-out breath here and there, are shortchanging themselves: Complete yoga practices can give so much more! 🙏
